I've recently encountered an onslaught of thought groups and religious systems that want to challenge my belief in Christ as Lord and Savior of my life. Most surprisingly, it has come from other black people. Whether they are Hebrew Israelites or whatever this new branch of blacks who choose the Hebrew lifestyle are, they're out there. I've been perplexed by the idea of taking on the law, Torah as they call it. Jesus came to fulfill the law and eliminate the penalty of sin, so why are we observing days and moons, again?!? Some of them believe that black people are the Chosen People of Israel. To that I say, that's interesting and if we are...at what point do we feel shame about killing the Savior of the world. God's son we're talking about, here! I mean, read the bible, those were the same people that said "Free Barrabas". I don't think I'd wear that as a badge of honor, friends! Also, from reading the bible, I also understand that Christ made a relationship with God possible with everyone-to provoke "us" to jealousy! Not to worry, because these gentiles would turn away from the Lord just like "we" did and He'll be ours again, right?! (Romans 7,8)/ The other group of people seem to be works based believers who believe that under grace, we are failing God. They observe feasts, the diet, holy days and moons like the people in the Old Testament. But why?And don't even get me started on the folks that won't even write out the name of God. G-D???? What does that mean? In essence, we aren't worthy to call him God or write out His name. But, the bible tells me about the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry Abba Father (Romans 8:15). So, miss me with the dry, no relationship having spiritual junk, ok! These people miss the very essence of Christ's sacrifice. It's to restore us unto God, Himself. We are His people and the sheep of His pasture (Psalm 100:3)! He wanted us back, so He sent us a sacrifice in the form of His son, Jesus. To that I say emphatically: YES, I'm a believer! Acts 15:5-125 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
