When we got married, we started out on a whirlwind adventure. Rhonda and I were clueless about what all the future would hold. It didn't take long for us to get an idea. We were expecting our first child only months into our marriage. Joshua, our first child was born in August, two months before our first wedding anniversary!
Life with a preemie brings about its own challenges but we were making it...all the way to the hospital with baby number two less than two years later! Life shifted us and we faced our first round of difficulty. As we tried our level best to get back on our feet and move forward, we got a boost of sorts...Jailen! We were in our new place and expecting our third child! Where's some family planning when you need it? Over the course of 54 months, we added three children to our family. Let's do the math, here: Each child is exactly 18 months apart. We couldn't have planned it like that if we tried and to be honest, had we planned, there would have been much more space in between. Beyond the realization of the year and a half difference, all the males in our house have August birthdays and the females have February birthdays. Again, another facet we couldn't have planned! Rhonda and Joi's birthdays are four days apart. My birthday and Joshua's birthday are three days apart and Joshua and Jailen's birthdays are exactly two weeks (14 days) apart. What this has done is made birthday celebrations all the more interesting around our house! Since all three of the children are under 10, we try and squeeze an all kid birthday party in one month, but it seldom works. Joi now wants her own party so we'll have to make that happen this year! I don't know how it got past me, but one day the realization just dropped out of nowhere on me. Rhonda and I are also 18 months apart. She was born in February of '81 and I was born in August of '82. Isn't that something?!? All the people in our house are separated by 18 months! That's some kind of math...my kind of math! Do you have an interesting story about your family?
